  • Scope fit confirmed: the work is relevant to BJBM’s business, management, economics, finance, policy, governance, technology, entrepreneurship, or related interdisciplinary focus. Check scope
  • Files prepared: anonymised manuscript, title page, tables/figures, supplementary files where applicable, and cover letter. See file requirements
  • Double-blind review protected: identifying information has been removed from the main manuscript and metadata where possible. See peer review policy
  • Declarations completed: funding, conflicts of interest, authorship/contribution, ethics, consent, data availability, AI use, permissions, and prior dissemination are addressed where relevant. See declarations
  • Ethics and research integrity checked: approvals, exemptions, participant consent, confidential data, and proprietary data issues are handled appropriately. See ethical oversight
  • Originality confirmed: the manuscript is not under concurrent review elsewhere and overlapping material is disclosed. See originality policy
  • Rights cleared: third-party figures, tables, instruments, datasets, or long extracts are lawfully used and permissions are ready where required. See copyright policy
  • Fees understood: BJBM currently charges no submission fees or article processing charges. See APC policy

After submission

What Happens Next?

Administrative check

The journal checks completeness, basic scope fit, file preparation, anonymisation, declarations, and policy compliance before review.

Editorial assessment

Editors assess suitability, originality, contribution, ethical clarity, and methodological credibility. Manuscripts may be returned or declined before external review where appropriate.

Double-blind review

Suitable manuscripts are sent for confidential expert review. Reviewers advise; editors decide.

Decision and revision

Authors receive a formal decision with guidance. Revised manuscripts should respond carefully to editorial and reviewer comments.

Normal time to first decision: 30 days after a complete submission passes administrative checks. Read journal performance note
